Mumbai – Salman Khan’s highly-awaited action drama Sikandar has registered a huge drop in its box office collections on the third day of release. The movie, which had collected a huge amount on opening, recorded a 32% decrease in revenue on Sunday, taking its overall domestic collections to ₹75 crore as of the end of the weekend.

Industry observers explain the drop due to divided word-of-mouth by the public, followed by the end of Eid festival days that initially pushed visitors in. Whereas Sikandar continues to hold fort in metropolis towns, the smaller town centers have revealed some weakening trends.

Performance and Audience Response:

  • Good opening: The movie opened with ₹38 crore, a rank among the top openers for Salman Khan.
  • Declining trend: The film witnessed a decline in collections over the weekend, with Sunday registering a steep fall.
  • Mixed audience response: Although action scenes and Salman’s acting have been appreciated, script and screenplay have garnered criticism.
  • Competition factor: Continuing IPL matches and other new movies have influenced its box office run.
  • Overseas figures: While the domestic fall, Sikandar has gone past the ₹100 crore benchmark in global collections.

The upcoming weekdays will be the deciding factor in terms of whether Sikandar will be able to pick up momentum. If the film sustains, it might cross the ₹150 crore mark in its first week. But another drop might affect its lifetime collection. Everyone is waiting to witness its weekday trends now to check if Salman Khan’s stardom will be able to save the film.
